About Braille Unicode Characters

Unicode braille patterns occupy the range U+2800 to U+28FF, providing 256 characters covering every possible combination of 8 dots. The braille cell consists of two columns and four rows, with each dot assigned a specific bit value. The Unicode code point for any braille character is calculated by adding the values of the active dots to the base value 0x2800.

These characters are widely used in text art, especially on platforms like Discord where they create compact visual patterns. The blank braille character (U+2800) is also popular as an invisible character for empty messages and bios. For more text art options, see our Text Art page.
