About the En Dash Symbol

The en dash is a typographic punctuation mark that is the width of a capital letter N. It is used to indicate ranges (such as dates, times, and page numbers) and connections between related items. It is longer than a hyphen but shorter than an em dash.

Common Uses

Number ranges (pages 10–20), date ranges (2020–2025), scores (3–2), replacing 'to' or 'through', compound adjectives
